WEST HERTS CC

The 2019 season is upon us and we are looking to follow on from the 2018 which proved to be one of rebuilding and stabalising

Anybody wishing to join West Herts  C.C. at all levels (Seniors & Colts) please contact the Committee via Selection@WestHertsCC.co.uk
or visit our Club website: www.westhertscc.co.uk.

West Herts CC is a League Cricket Club in South West Hertfordshire. It is an ECB Focus club with "Clubmark" registration. We field 5 adult sides on a Saturday as well as T20 fixtures. We have a very active junior section with eleven teams ranging from U9-U17 with a full programme of coaching to support this.

West Herts C.C. was founded in 1891 and until 1922 shared the ground with Watford FC who then moved to their present home at the nearby Vicarage Road Stadium. This also presents club members with a meeting point for home matches of  Watford FC.

Some of the more notable players for West Herts CC in the past have been:
Prince Ranjitsinhji (Sussex & England)
Arthur Grimsdell (Hertfordshire CCC, Tottenham Hotspur FC & England)
Jack Young (Middlesex CCC & England)
Doug Yeabsley Devon & Minor Counties)
Frank Hodgkiss (Hertfordshire & one of the youngest proffessionals to be signed in the Lancashire League)
Alan Bell (Hertfordshire & Minor Counties (the 1st Minor Counties player to score a century in the Gillette Cup)
Alan Ramage (Yorkshire CCC, Middlesborough FC & Derby County FC) & in more recent times
Nick Walker (Derbyshire CCC & Leicestershire CCC)
Alamgir Sheriyar (Kent CCC, Worcestershire CCC, Leicestershire CCC & England 'A')
Steven Finn (Middlesex, England U19, & England)

Overseas players of note include but not limited to:
Michael Foster (Australian Cricket Academy & Victoria)
Jonathan Bastow (Natal)
Neal Parlane (Wellington & New Zealand U19)
Jaahid Ali (Pakistan U19, Pakistan 'A')

The club is very ambitious and are always looking to improve at both playing and facility levels.

The club is situated in the heart of Watford. We are ideally situated as a family club. The town centre with it's excellent shopping centre is 5 minutes walk from the ground and the vast Cassiobury Park with paddling pools, childrens play area, canal and walks in Whippendell Woods is just outside the club entrance. For the late evenings, the thriving bar & club scene of Watford is also just a very short walk (stagger!!) from the clubhouse.
